FINRA approved Securitize to expand its broker-dealer activities, allowing the firm to underwrite tokenized IPOs, custody tokenized securities, and support atomic swaps between tokenized stocks and stablecoins inside its broker-dealer ATS. Securitize said the approval came through the Continuing Membership Application process and makes the firm the first company approved to custody tokenized securities in a regular broker-dealer.

Aave LLC asked Judge Margaret M. Garnett to vacate a restraining notice on about $71 million in recovered ETH from the Kelp DAO exploit, and the motion also sought expedited relief or a plaintiff cash bond of no less than $300 million if the notice remains. Aave said the freeze blocks a DeFi United plan to refill rsETH backing and close the exploiter's borrow positions on Aave and Compound.

The SEC reportedly delayed 24 prediction market ETFs from Bitwise, Roundhill, and GraniteShares just before the funds were due to start trading this week, stopping the normal 75-day automatic effectiveness process for additional review.

Institutional Updates

BitMine Immersion Technologies bought 101,745 ETH for about $237.7 million in the week ending May 4, marking its third straight week of buying more than 100,000 ETH. The purchase lifted total holdings to 5,180,131 ETH, and BitMine said 4,362,757 ETH are staked through MAVAN.

Payward closed its acquisition of Bitnomial and secured a Futures Commission Merchant designation, a Designated Contract Market license, and a Derivatives Clearing Organization license from the CFTC, giving Kraken's parent a full U.S. derivatives stack. Payward said the rollout will start with spot margin on Kraken, with perpetuals and options coming later for eligible U.S. clients.

Rain became a Mastercard Principal Member, allowing the company to offer stablecoin-powered credit and prepaid cards on Mastercard through a single integration that can expand across geographies. Rain said Rain and Mastercard will also explore settling select program flows onchain using regulated stablecoins.
